Buy Jowish cards at John Lewis!!
Fantastic News!! We are now selling Jowish Greeting cards at John Lewis Oxford Street in Central London and at Brent Cross London!
Managing Director visits the flagship store...

Danny and I took a trip to London to see how the new Chanukah cards at John Lewis were selling. It was so overwhelming being on Oxford Street but it was made more fun with fake snow being churned out. We made it safely into John Lewis but still it was busy!! We even had to queue to get down the escalator!
We were delighted to see so many of our designs out on display in the Stationery section on the lower ground floor. You can see I am happy in the pic! I feel like I have made a personal goal come true. As an artist, to have my designs selling in John Lewis, Central London is a massive honour and a privilage and I am thankful to all those people who are buying and sending our cards.
There will be new designs for all occasions coming out in the New Year so watch this space!

Jewish Living Expo - Wembley
10,000 visitors to the Exhibition! A fantastic day out for all the family!
Did you see us in the Simcha section?
Well, we have just about recovered from the amazing event at Wembely held by the Jewish News. With nearly 10,000 visitors it made for an extraordinary vibe with Jowish being non stop all day!
The venue was packed with all kinds of exhibitors from real estate, art, gifts and homeware and even some popcorn. We were in the Simcha section kinda near Borat (which is always fun

A lot of people were interseted in the Bespoke Stationery service that we are now offering. It was a valuable opportunity to talk to people about the stationery that we offer including wedding invitations, Bar and Bat Mitzvah invitations, table plans, benchers, menus, in fact any printed material that you would need to enhance your simcha and make it unique and tailored just for you.
For a free no obligation quote please call me or message me.

Bloomin’ Brilliant!
Jowish has teamed up with Isabella Florist at the Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Edgware, London. go and have a look at the fully stocked spinner of 36 designs for your convenience adjacent to Sainsbury's.
The Broadwalk in Edgware.
Jo and I got together with Steve, the owner of the florist in Edgware shopping centre, today and chose a prime location for you to view and buy our Jowish cards. Our spinner of cards is ready for you to view as you come out of the car park next to Sainsbury's.
While we were still unpacking the cards a number of people came up to us and recognised our designs from another shop in North London. The first card was sold within 30 seconds of it being put out! How fantastic is that! We are delighted that the Jewish community are excited about Jowish and our accessibility.
We wished Steve good luck and asked if we could take a photo for the blog. He commented "What? You want a photo of me?" Do pop along and say 'hi' they have some gorgeous flowers for sale or give them a call on 0208 951 5430.
We are always designing more cards and if there is a card that you can't find in our range then please let us know! We have new Bar Mitzvah, Mazel Tov, New home and birthday cards for you to view.

Top day out at the printers
I would just like to say that both Danny and I are very impressed with our son David as he is learning to drive and are grateful for the lift to the printers in Kent from Radlett! Epic journey!

We had a lovely day out meeting Bob, Jan, Katie and the team. We had a brief synopsis of the history, a guided tour of the warehouse and met the people on the ground floor who do the printing, cutting, sorting and the packaging of our Jowish cards and invitations.
It was a very helpful visit as we learnt that we are able to produce our invitations with individual names on each invite, thank you card, place name etc! This is a huge bonus for our clients so that they don’t have to write out everyone’s names and risk getting a dodgy shoulder in the process!
Seating plans for your simcha
We also visited the warehouse next door to the printers and spoke to them about producing A2 and A1 seating plans, a facility that we are now offering on our bespoke invitation service for little extra cost.
...

We are also very excited and keen to experiment with the new foiling and embossing machine that our printers have got in. We were shown how it works and which designs work well and which do not. I will be designing more over the next few weeks I shall be producing some examples to show potential clients that I will showcase at the Jewish Expo in Wembley, UK on 18th March 2012.
Loads of different paper samples
At the end of our visit we collected some outstanding orders, took some freebies and samples but most of all wanted to thank Bob and his team for showing us around and opening our eyes to some new and exciting design opportunities for the future of Jowish Ltd.

Limmud Shuk

The event was a great success and everyone seemed to be having lots of fun. A big thanks to Oli and his team of volunteers who were all exceptional.

JFS enterprise - working together
The Jewish Free School in Kenton is running a young business enterprise for those doing A levels. working together with Jowish Ltd they have made a considerable amount of money for charity and are continuing to grow strong. We recently attended Akiva school in Finchley and worked side by side to promote the enterprise and thanks to Zac and the guys, made some more money for charity!
So how did it all come about!

Jowish were exhibiting at JFS School in Kenton, Middlesex at their annual Channukah and gift fair and were approached by the young enterprise team. Their remit was to create a business and make money for charity selling a product. 'Dimention' is the name of their company and led by Zac Gordon-Boyd the team decided to purchase our Jowish Channukah, barmitzvah, and batmitzvah cards.
We also met up with Zac and another member of the team at Akiva School, Finchley, London, Channukah fair on 1st December where we worked side by side to promote their project. Their initiative has allowed them to sell our Jowish, Jewish cards and Channukah packs of cards during lunchtime to other school pupils. Dimention did especially well at the recent parents evening. Well done to guys keep up the hard work!!

And the winner is….NOT US! Doh!
Oh well, all is not lost! I feel proud to have been shortlisted for the Creative Enterprise Award 2011 and had an enjoyable evening.
...and we did have some fun!
Danny and I arrived at Richmix, in London and met Carmella, our daughter. The 4th floor was decked out and rocking when we arrived with Champagne on tap and the music was jumping! I was so excited to have been considered for the Creative Enterprise Award 2011. My new Jowish business had been recognised and I was in the running for the New Business Enterprise Award having been shortlisted from about 45 applications. I felt honoured!
Oh Danny!
We quickly made the most of the Photobooth experience and we even went back later for some more photo action! It was a relaxed yet formal do and I felt right at home with all the other Arty Farty people around. The venue was packed as they read out the nominations. Sadly, I didn't win however I was up against some tough competition! These guys won - Hendzel+Hunt - Gorgeous Bespoke furniture. Congrats chaps, what a great business!

Jowish shortlisted for an AWARD!
I feel totally honoured to have been shortlisted for the Creative Entrprise award 2011 in the New Business category!
New Business Enterprise award!
I graduated from Carmerwell College of Art (UK) in 2010 and since then I have been working on building Jowish which was an initial project that I started for my MA in Illustration. Under the direction of Jan Woolley I researched and developed ideas of how to start up a Greeting Card publishing business. I am delighted to report great success in our first year and I have pleanty more ideas of where the business is heading. I thoroughly enjoy waking up to being my own boss and love the freedom that it gives me in my life.
I would love to win this award, however I have checked out the competition and have seen some great businesses and I particularlly like the furniture businesses that I am up against. Anyway, we shall find out soon as tonight is the night. Wish us luck!

We dipped our toe up in T' North!
Danny and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip up to Manchester to the Old Trafford Centre exhibition hall. We were next to another company called MyBungee selling mobile phone accessories and India Room which was selling beautifully hand crafted rugs and cushions etc.
We had a few trade orders including Salford council (so watch this space!) but mostly we were telling everyone about our online shop and how easy it is to by your Jewish cards online. We gave out lots of free pens and some kosher sweeties too.
Danny and I visited a few shops while we were "up in T' North," mostly in Prestwich and we particualry loved the sukkah on Kings Road at the JS restaurant.

Jewish News - Rosh Hashanah card competition
S T O P P R E S S - This year’s Jewish News, Rosh Hashanah card competition has been won by 13yr old schoolboy, Danny Baum from Oxford.
And the winner is... DANNY BAUM!!!

Here at Jowish, we began a conversation with the Jewish News (Media group) a few months ago and together we became partners to produce the winning 5772 Jewish New Year competition card. The competition aimed at youngsters aged 8-13 was launched a few weeks ago and Danny Baum beat almost 100 fellow applicants with his creation. The competition was to design a Rosh Hashanah card fit for the mantelpieces of leaders of our country and our community.
Danny with his pet centipede!
Danny’s design was then turned into the official New Year card for the Jewish News Media Group, London Jewish Cultural Centre and Board of Deputies. The winning entry was featured in the Jewish News, 5772 New Year supplement and has been sent to the likes of the Queen, David Cameron and Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks.
Very well done to Danny.

Stanmore Shul Fair
Lovely to meet everyone at Stanmore United Synagogue at the Shul fair
Diversity
We had a great evening at Stanmore Shul which is based in London, UK. It was great to see familiar faces on some of the other stalls and to speak to some first time buyers about our products. "Modern and contemporary Jewish cards are much needed in the UK," said one lady who bought a selection of cards from right across the Jowish card range.
There were also others selling cards at the shul which were generally hand made. Fabulous hand finished cards. There is room for lots of different types of cards and I love the diversity of everyones creativity and designs. Great evening! Thanks to Carmella Phillips for helping us on the stall and to take time out as she prepares to leave home for Uni. Oh and thanks to Nicki Marks for organising the event (and my free smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel!)

Progressive Greeting Live success!
Danny and I had brilliant fun at the Progressive Greetings Live 2011 show in London over the last few days. It was our official launch of Jowish - promoting our Jewish Greeting cards for family feasts and festivals. We had been so excited for months and now we can't believe it is all over. How the time flew by. We had a steady stream of buyers and retailers looking for new and inspirational greeting card designs and for some we "hit the nail on the head with the funky stand and display of contemporary Jewish cards."
We made some new friends
The show only lasted two days but it went past in a flash. We were in a really good location at Springboard in the PG Live show, right next to the lounge which had good foot fall. We made some new friends on adjoining and adjacent stands and were plesantly surprised to fine Pauline, an Israeli who was promoting a new card business opposite. Danny soon got chatting away in Hebrew and it was a good opportunity to have a natter about Israel and Jerusalem. Pauline took some of our cards to give to her friends and family and told us that she thought that "these Jewish cards are beautiful, very contemporary."
Sales, sales and more sales!

We are 'over the moon' to tell you that we are now supplying our Jewish cards to Vancouver in Canada at a shop called Signed & Sealed. We had several other orders from the show and will be stocking our cards for retail in the following new areas;
- Fenwick -Brent Cross Shopping Centre, London, UK
- Jenny's Cards - Wealdstone, London, UK
- Silver Lining - Sheffield, UK
- Scotts - Borehamwood, Herts, UK
- Jane Armour Trading - Somerset, UK
- Village News - Bushey Heath, Herts, UK
- Ruby Blu - Southgate, London, UK
Stocking up for Rosh Hashanah and Chanukah
We were overwhelmed by so much positive feedback from everyone who came to the show. Some of the buyers were already stocking up for Rosh Hashanah and Chanukah. We even had a visit from Micha Dorfzaun from Palphot, another Jewish Greeting card company. Mr Dorfzaun said that he really liked our cards which was a huge compliment coming from him!
-
Day 1 at PG Live

We are just about to head off back to the show and look forward to seeing anyone who is coming along for the last day. See you there.

Set up day at Progressive Greeting Live 2011
Wow today has finally arrived. How exciting! Progressive Greetings Live 2011 is only tomorrow now.
Setting up

Jo and I got up at 6am and packed the car. We were on our way for 7am and set off into the London traffic. We made our way to the Business Design Centre, Islington and to stand 830. It had been prepared for us with a light shade of pink with cladding. Jo and I set off to work and we initially measured things up and finally placed the ‘Jowish’ sign proudly onto the main wall. Then we mounted the card fixings for the Jewish greeting cards. Getting hungry we had a short break and then got right back to things. Jo then added our strap line, ‘Greetings for Family, Feasts and Festivals’ and some Magen David stars above the logo. I have to say it myself it looks great.
Standing back we placed our green stools in each corner and tidied up. We left around 4pm and made our way home. Tomorrow our Jewish Greeting cards will officially be launched. The day had finally come.
Do come and see us and say hello.
